Our Philosophy

Mental Sovereignty

In an age of infinite information and finite attention, your mind deserves a sanctuary—not a surveillance system.

The Problem

Every day, you encounter ideas worth remembering. Links worth saving. Thoughts worth capturing. But where do they go?

Into apps that scan your content to serve you ads. Into clouds that can be breached, sold, or subpoenaed. Into systems designed not to serve you, but to study you.

Your second brain has become someone else's training data.

The Vision

In 1945, Vannevar Bush imagined the Memex—a device that would augment human memory, allowing individuals to store and retrieve their personal knowledge at will. It was a vision of cognitive liberation.

Eighty years later, we have the technology to realize that vision. But instead of building tools that extend our minds, the industry built tools that extract from them.

Vannmex is our attempt to correct course.

Our Principles

1. Your Data Stays Yours

Everything you save lives on your device. Not on our servers. Not in the cloud. Not anywhere we or anyone else can access it. This isn't a feature—it's the foundation.

2. AI That Works For You

Our AI runs entirely on your device. It organizes, connects, and surfaces your knowledge without ever sending it anywhere. The intelligence is local. The insights are private.

3. Offline Is Not A Limitation

Most "productivity" apps fail without internet. Vannmex thrives without it. Your second brain should work wherever your first brain does—on a plane, in the wilderness, in the quiet spaces where real thinking happens.

4. Simplicity Over Feature Creep

The goal isn't to build the most powerful knowledge management system. It's to build one that disappears into your workflow. Capture should take seconds. Retrieval should feel like remembering.

5. Honest Business Model

We make money when you pay for our software. That's it. No ads. No data selling. No venture-backed pressure to monetize your attention. When you're not the product, the product can finally serve you.

The Name

Vann—from Vannevar Bush, the visionary who imagined this future.

Mex—from Memex, the device he dreamed of building.

The Invitation

We're building Vannmex for people who believe their thoughts belong to them. For those exhausted by the surveillance economy. For anyone who wants a tool that augments their mind without exploiting it.

Your ideas are worth protecting. Your knowledge is worth keeping. Your mind deserves sovereignty.
